Indonesia Enters AANZFTA
Today Indonesia enters the ASEAN/Australia and New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA).
The agreement, which was signed in February 2009, significantly opens the markets of ASEAN countries to New Zealand and Australian goods and services, and vice versa. There are many opportunities for Indonesian business to now sell their products in the New Zealand market.
As part of the agreement, New Zealand and Indonesia will cooperate in the fields of labour policy, environmental policy and agriculture development. In November 2011, a delegation from New Zealand came to Jakarta to finalise these agreements. In agriculture, the MOU means that New Zealand and Indonesia will be running joint projects in Indonesian dairy industry development, horticultural science, quarantine procedures and others. As part of the New Zealand ASEAN Scholars programme, there will be dedicated scholarship opportunities for Indonesian students of agriculture to study in New Zealand .
There will also be opportunities for young Indonesians to work and study in New Zealand in due course. For more information, please follow this link.
