New Zealand Ambassador hands over funds to help rebuild West Javanese school
New Zealand’s Ambassador to Indonesia, David Taylor, has officially handed over a cheque for $NZ25, 000 to help in the rebuilding of an earthquake-damaged school in West Java.
A charity golf tournament held in honour of New Zealander Tim Mackay, former president director of Holcim Cement Indonesia, has raised nearly US$100,000 to help reconstruct the school which has approximately 300 students. The charity golf tournament, which will become an annual event, was organised by the Property and Construction Golf Club. Mackay co-founded the club.
Tim Mackay, who had been working in Indonesia since 2004, was killed in the July 2009 bombings of the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Jakarta
