Award winning New Zealand film maker Gaylene Preston showcased her latest movie, Home by Christmas, at the Balinale Film Festival held in Bali recently.
Home by Christmas is a film memoir based on Gaylene Preston’s interviews with her father about his World War II experiences, and her mother’s life on the home front. It features the film maker's own daughter, actor Chelsie Preston-Crayford, who also attended the festival.
Apart from giving Indonesian and foreign film makers the opportunity to showcase their work, the festival also provided workshops and forums.
The New Zealand Embassy in Jakarta helped bring the New Zealand film to the festival,
"New Zealand is delighted to support the Balinale International Film Festival by bringing outstanding New Zealand cinema to Indonesia, together with one of our leading film makers," said Ambassador David Taylor.
