New Zealand government scholarships – applications open now for 2014 intake
Applications are currently open for the New Zealand ASEAN Scholars Awards (NZAS) for the 2014 study intake for postgraduate study in New Zealand. The closing date for applications is 22 April 2013.
Up to 50 scholarships are available per year for Indonesians to pursue postgraduate studies – including Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s degree and doctorate/PhD – at New Zealand’s eight world-class universities. There is also a special allocation of two scholarships available per year for people working at the ASEAN Secretariat.
These scholarships are open to candidates from the public, private and civil society sectors (including development-focused organisations and charitable foundations), as well as university lecturers, that are committed to making a contribution to Indonesia’s strategic or developmental needs.
- Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria is welcome to apply.
- Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Special priority is given to applicants from West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua and West Papua. These provinces in eastern Indonesia are a geographic area of focus in New Zealand’s bilateral development programme in recognition of the complexity of the development challenges faced within these sub-regions.
- Priority is also given to civil servants from the following Indonesian government departments and agencies: Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ministry of Marine Resources and Fisheries (including relevant research institutions under those Ministries), Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Police, National Agency for Planning and Development, Ministry of Defence (civilian officials), and National Agency for Disaster Management.
