Sampoerna Foundation’s ACCESS Education Beyond programme
Second Secretary Dr James Waite recently spoke at the launch of the Sampoerna Foundation’s ACCESS Education Beyond programme, which aims to open doors for all Indonesians to global higher education. Located in Sampoerna Strategic Square in Jakarta, the ACCESS Education Beyond office assists Indonesians indentify and apply for study overseas, including in New Zealand.
ACCESS Education Beyond provides accurate, unbiased, and comprehensive information about universities in New Zealand and other countries.
“New Zealand has a lot to offer with our world-class, English speaking universities that welcome students from Asia. Indonesian students who choose New Zealand for study enjoy the benefits of experiencing a highly-developed, dynamic, and safe society,” Waite said.
“The New Zealand Government is also doing its part to support education cooperation. From 2011, the number of New Zealand Government-funded postgraduate scholarships for Indonesians – both Masters and PhD – have increased from 15 to 50 annually.
We want our scholarship awards to focus on young Indonesians with leadership potential – people who can contribute to Indonesia ’s democratic development and become supporters of the New Zealand – Indonesia relationship.
We are also pleased to work with the Putera Sampoerna Foundation and ACCESS Education Beyond to help expand New Zealand cooperation with Indonesian universities across the country and with Indonesian students at all levels,” commented Waite during the launch.
