The The New Zealand Aid Programme issues Postgraduate Field Research Awards

Indonesia will be the focus of one of the 2010/11 Postgraduate Field Research Awards that are being made available through the New Zealand Aid Programme.

This year eight awards were granted to students undertaking research towards a Masters degree and three awards were granted to Doctorate students. Awards were granted for field research in the following countries: Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Laos/Cambodia/Thailand, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, Chile and Cook Islands .

Richard Barter, a Masters degree student at the University of Auckland, is focusing on factors that encourage cooperative action in the district of Melaya, Bali. Barter's work has the potential to inform economic development strategies in the Asia Pacific region by determining factors that encourage residents of Melaya to engage in cooperative business activities.
