Tourism New Zealand appoints team to lead Indonesia market development
Tourism New Zealand is fast progressing it recruitment process for its new office Jakarta, Indonesia, with the appointment of its Country Manager, Marketing Communications Manager and PR Manager.
“The full team will be in place by early November, and will provide a significant level of expertise to lead our activity to target potential travellers to New Zealand from this priority emerging market,” says GM Australia and Indonesia, Tim Burgess.
“With a new office space finalised alongside our NZ Inc colleagues, and the Indonesian market edition of newzealand.com launched, we are now well positioned to build demand and maximise the opportunities this growing market presents.”
Appointed to the role of Country Manager is Christian Sidharta, commencing 11 November 2013.
Christian joins Tourism New Zealand from HRG Singapore, a corporate travel management company where he is Manager, Events Services. Prior to this Christian worked for New Zealand Journeys in Singapore and General Travel in New Zealand.
Aristo Kristandyo has been appointed Marketing Communications Manager, and begins 16 October, 2013.
Aristo is coming directly to Tourism New Zealand from Garuda Indonesia, Citilink Indonesia, where he is VP Marketing and Communications. His past assignments included Marketing Communications Manager for General Motors Chevrolet.
The third appointment is the PR Manager role, with Mardiana Budi joining Tourism New Zealand in October.
For the last three years Mardiana has been working for PT Codice Communications International, a PR agency based in Jakarta. She has also worked as Communications Manager and was part of the re-opening team of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Jakarta.
The recruitment process is now underway to complete the team with a trade executive role.
Indonesia is one of three new priority ‘emerging markets’ identified as part of Tourism New Zealand’s three year marketing strategy for the potential they show as a source of visitor arrivals. The three markets require increased investment to build demand and secure a strong long-term position for the New Zealand tourism industry.
The New Zealand Government recently announced $123 million in additional funding for Tourism New Zealand’s work to increase the value of visitor arrivals to the economy.
