New Zealand’s Ambassador to Indonesia, David Taylor, will host ‘New Zealand’s Open’; a Golf Tournament to take place at Cengkareng Golf Course today.

“New Zealand’s Open is an opportunity for us to celebrate the excellent relationship between Indonesia and New Zealand, across a range of sectors” says Ambassador Taylor. “New Zealand really is open to opportunities to partner with, and work alongside, Indonesia.”

From the Ambassador’s blog:

There’s been a lot of effort over recent years to build ties between Indonesia and New Zealand. And a lot of success too, though there are areas where I’m sure we can do a lot better.

I wrote recently about the year ahead for Indonesia, now it’s ASEAN’s turn.

Myanmar took charge in early January and will chair ASEAN meetings and processes for this calendar year.  They hosted their first meeting in Bagan in February – the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM).

Your Excellencies, my fellow Ambassadors, Indonesian Veterans and Government Officials, Defence Attaches, Teachers and children, Ladies and Gentlemen

Nga mate haere, haere, haere
Tatou te hunga ora tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa
The dead, farewell, farewell, farewell
To us, the living, greetings, greetings, greetings to us all.

I’ve written a few blogs on the education theme, but thought an update on some work streams might be worthwhile.

Indonesia’s new Ambassador to New Zealand, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, presented his letter of credentials to New Zealand's Governor General, Jerry Mateparae, in Wellington on Wednesday.

In his opening remarks, Mateparae greeted Tavares in Indonesian, with the words “Yang Mulia, selamat datang ke Selandia Baru [Excellency, welcome to New Zealand].”

New Zealand looks forward to working with His Excellency Jose Tavares over the course of his term in New Zealand.

An online toolkit is now available for New Zealand exporters to help tell the New Zealand story overseas.

Last week the long-standing cooperation between the coffee growers in North Toraja Regency in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and a group of Canterbury farmers, many of whom are from Selwyn District in New Zealand, was recognised with the signing of a Sister District Agreement between the two districts.
