"Indonesia has demonstrated the depth of its friendship and strong ties with New Zealand through its generous grant to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal”, New Zealand Ambassador David Taylor said when he received a US$500,000 grant for the appeal from Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Agung Laksono on 17 March. Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Marty Natalegawa was also in attendance at the handover ceremony.

“Absolutely delighted” was Ambassador David Taylor’s reaction to the New Zealand Embassy receiving the award for the “most supportive institution” at Java Jazz 2011.

“Java Jazz is one of the world’s premier jazz festivals. Attracting the likes of Santana, Corinne Rae Bailey, George Benson and George Duke, as well as 100,000 people for a three day celebration of music is no small feat”.

In memory of all those who lost their lives in the Christchurch Earthquake, 22 February 2011.

The New Zealand Embassy Jakarta advises that there will be a condolence book open at the Embassy on Wednesday 2 March and Thursday 3 March from 0800 to 1600 daily.

Ambassador David Taylor and Deputy Head of Mission Chris Langley called on the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Taufik Kiemas to discuss key areas of New Zealand ’s bilateral engagement with Indonesia , including cooperation on geothermal energy, scholarships, agriculture cooperation and other elements of the development programme.
