Building bridges between New Zealand and Albania

Ambassador Matheson presentation of Credentials

H.E. Dr Trevor Matheson became New Zealand’s first ambassador to the Republic of Albania, with residence in Rome, when he presented Letters of Credence to President Bujar Nishani in Tirana on 22 July 2014.

President Nishani told the ambassador that he was delighted that New Zealand had finally decided to accredit an ambassador to Tirana.  The Albanian ambassador in Beijing is accredited to New Zealand.  He hoped the accreditation from Rome would lift bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation.  Ambassador Matheson assured the President that New Zealand was committed to building the relationship and deepening mutual respect.

The Ambassador also congratulated President Nishani on Albania’s new gained EU candidature status and Tirana’s recent decision to appoint an Honorary Consul in Auckland.
