New Zealand Embassy Rome, Italy

As original signatories to the Antarctic Treaty, Antarctic Claimant States and Southern Ocean Coastal States, Italy and New Zealand share many common interests and perspectives on Antarctic matters.

Italy uses Christchurch as a base and the two countries cooperate (under agreement) in Antarctic research and exploration, as well as at meetings of the parties to the Antarctic Treaty.
