What the Embassy does

The Embassy is tasked with carrying out the New Zealand Government's business with Japan, mainly focussing on managing political, economic, trade, security and other relations.

The Embassy is staffed by a small team of diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington, assisted by a number of locally engaged staff.  The Embassy also has a New Zealand Defence Force representative, and a New Zealand Trade & Enterprise office which is responsible for promoting and developing New Zealand's export trade with Japan.

New Zealand has four Honorary Consuls in Japan. They are located in Sapporo, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Nagoya.
