Streetwise caution

New Zealanders, particularly in Tokyo, are advised to be aware of reports of bars and nightclubs which target foreigners - especially those who appear to be newcomers - for tab overcharging, fraudulent credit card billing, theft, drink spiking, drug pushing, and assault. Such venues often use street touts (typically but not necessarily foreigners) who attempt to befriend or entice people into the venue premises.
