99th ANZAC Day Commemoration 2014

Anzac Day 99th commemoration was greeted with a warm and beautiful morning in Yokohama last Friday.  New Zealand hosted a large gathering of diplomats, military representatives, friends and families to this annual service held at the Hodogaya Commonwealth lawn cemetery.

The New Zealand Embassy welcomed its colleagues from Australia, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan Ministry of Defence, local Australia and New Zealand societies, Returned Servicemen’s and other organisations on this day of remembrance and sacrifice.  We were also privileged to have groups from St Matthew’s Collegiate School, Masterton, New Zealand as well as St Edmund’s College, Canberra, Australia to participate in the service.

New Zealand Ambassador Mark Sinclair delivered the Anzac Day address, focussing on the tenacity of all those soldiers that fought in that campaign, and the example that this action now gives to all who cause to remember it in the modern age.  The New Zealand Embassy wishes to thank all those who participated in or supported this important event.
