Acting Trade Minister Steven Joyce welcomes Japan’s TPP announcement

Acting Trade Minister Hon Steven Joyce has responded to Prime Minister Abe’s announcement on 15 March that Japan wished to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiation. 

In a statement released on 16 March (click here for Beehive link) Mr Joyce welcomed Mr Abe’s announcement. He also outlined the process to be followed, noting that a meeting of TPP trade ministers in the margins of the APEC Trade Ministers meeting in Surabaya 20-21 April would provide an opportunity for a discussion of next steps.
