ANZTEC signed

This afternoon in Wellington the director of the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office, Taipei (NZCIO Taipei) and the Director of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Wellington (TECO, Wellington) signed an Economic Cooperation Agreement.

The “Agreement between New Zealand and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu on Economic Cooperation”, known as ANZTEC, provides for rapid liberalisation of tariffs, high-quality services and investment disciplines, access to official procurement markets, trade and labour and trade and environment chapters.

Following entry into force the agreement will constitute a legally binding international agreement between New Zealand and the WTO member Chinese Taipei.

The full text of the agreement and a guide to the major outcomes is available in English at http://www.nzcio.com/news/anztec
