Governance and multilateralism in the 21st century - New Zealand Trade Minister and Climate Change Minister Hon Tim Groser
New Zealand Trade Minister and Climate Change Minister Hon Tim Groser last month made a major speech on governance and multilateralism in the 21st century. The speech draws on Mr Groser’s personal experience as a trade and climate change negotiator as well as looking back over the evolution of diplomacy and international negotiation over two centuries. The Minister addresses the current debate about the impact of trade and other international agreements on national ‘sovereignty’, discusses the evolution of multilateral governance in the post-war period, examines the contribution multilateral institutions have made to global security and economic growth and considers the role of the great powers, including the major economies.
