New Zealand’s population exceeds 4.5 million

New Zealand’s population growth has been reported to be climbing faster than it has in any other year in the past decade. The latest estimate announced by Statistics New Zealand on 14 August puts the population at 4,509,900 at 30 June 2014, up 67,800 people or 1.5 percent since the previous year. Over half of the increase is attributed to migration of people from other countries.
