New Zealand economy shows resilience

Recent economic news would suggest that the New Zealand economy is performing far better than expected with a higher than forecast tax revenue underpinning an improvement in the Government’s finances, indicating that overall prospects for growth are looking good (see this Scoop.co.nz article for more information).

Another positive sign has been the recent increase in consumer confidence. Despite an historic drought this summer the dairy sector is set to perform strongly on the back of favourable dairy prices. The strength of the New Zealand dollar further underlines international confidence in the New Zealand economy. For more details see this NZ Herald article.
