New Zealanders celebrate Waitangi Day at New Zealand Embassy
A Waitangi Day barbeque for New Zealanders resident in Japan was held at the embassy on Saturday 6 February between 11am and 2pm.
Despite the cold and windy weather, a great turnout of around 130 adults and children enjoyed a selection of New Zealand-style food and drink, including lamb chops kindly donated by ANZCO Foods Japan. Door prizes were provided by Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so and Canyons; a charity auction in support of Starship Hospital was held by Air New Zealand; and New Zealand singer-songwriter Alastair Rogers closed the event with a good old Kiwi sing-along.
Thanks to everyone who came along. If you would like to receive information on future Waitangi Day events and other embassy activities, please sign up for our email newsletters by sending an email to nzemb.tky@mfat.govt.nz.
