Notice to people urgently returning to New Zealand with pets

New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (NZMAF) is currently in the process of facilitating with New Zealanders who are urgently returning from Japan with their cats and dogs. Although NZMAF still requires an export certificate and an import permit, they will allow dogs and cats to be tested and treated as per the Import Health Standard in quarantine in NZ if an assurance  is provided that the dog or the cat has resided in Japan for six months prior to export.
