New Zealand Citizen Endorsement

Endorsements will replace 'returning resident’s visas’ for New Zealand citizens who wish to travel on a foreign passport. For more information see the Endorsements in foreign passports for New Zealand citizens factsheet.
 

New Zealand citizens who wish to enter New Zealand as a New Zealand citizen on a foreign passport may obtain an endorsement.

Please ensure that all relevant documents are in order before submitting your application. Further information and downloading of the application form maybe found at the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) website.

Application Fee

Please see the application fee schedule on www.immigration.govt.nz for the correct fee paid in Hong Kong dollars. Please note that this fee is a processing fee and is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the outcome of your visa application.

Acceptable modes of payment include bank drafts issued by Korean Exchange Bank and made out to the “New Zealand Consulate General” or credit card (Visa / MasterCard) payable in Hong Kong dollars. Please note that cash payment is not acceptable.

Application for New Zealand Citizen Endorsement

1. New Zealand Citizen Endorsement Application Form INZ 1174 fully completed, signed and attached with one photograph.

2. First-time endorsement applications must be submitted together with:
• the applicant’s current passport that he or she wishes to be endorsed; and
• original or certified copies of evidence that the applicant is a New Zealand citizen; and
• a New Zealand passport issued on or after 5 November 2005, or a passport-sized photograph of the applicant’s head and shoulders if the person does not hold a New Zealand passport issued on or after 5 November 2005.

Evidence that the applicant is a New Zealand citizen is:
• a New Zealand passport; or
• a New Zealand birth certificate issued prior to 1 January 2006; or
• a New Zealand birth certificate issued on or after 1 January 2006 that positively indicates New Zealand citizenship; or
• a certificate of New Zealand citizenship; or
• a confirmation of New Zealand citizenship by descent certificate issued under the Citizenship Act 1977; or
• an evidentiary certificate issued under the Citizenship Act 1977 confirming New Zealand citizenship
OR
3. An application for a second or subsequent endorsement must be submitted together with:
• the applicant’s current passport that he or she wishes to be endorsed; and
• a New Zealand passport issued on or after 5 November 2005, or a passport-sized photograph of the applicant’s head and shoulders if the person does not hold a New Zealand passport issued on or after 5 November 2005; and
• the applicant must also make a declaration that he or she has previously held a foreign passport with an endorsement confirming New Zealand citizenship.

Processing Time
