Ambassador Rata meets Speaker of National Assembly Kang

Ambassador Patrick Rata discussing the very close ties between Korea and New Zealand lawmakers with Speaker Kang.

On 24 April, Ambassador Patrick Rata met with Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Kang Chang-hee.  They discussed the very close ties between Korea and New Zealand lawmakers including the January visit to Korea by Assistant Speaker Tisch and other parliamentarians.  The Speaker also acknowledged New Zealand’s contribution to Korea at the time of the Korean War; Ambassador Rata said New Zealand war veterans were full of praise for the way in which Korea has emerged from the ruins of the Korean war into the prosperous and vibrant economy we see today. Ambassador Rata also expressed New Zealand's hope to see relations advance through the conclusion of a New Zealand-Korea FTA.
