Changes to Immigration Family Residence Categories (effective 16 May 2012)

Parent Category
The Parent Category will be closed from 16 May 2012. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will not accept any Parent Category applications while it is closed.

In addition, the requirements and processes are changing. Changes include the introduction of an expression of interest (EOI) system and two tiers, each having separate requirements. To gain residence, a person needs to meet the requirements for either tier one or tier two as well as the generic requirements for the category. As a result of these changes, the category is closing for a short time before it reopens in July 2012. The new processes and requirements will apply to it when it reopens.

Sibling and Adult Child Category
The Sibling and Adult Child Category is closing permanently from 16 May 2012. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will not accept applications under this category from this date onward.
