Former New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Dame Jenny Shipley delivered the keynote speech at the 3rd Asia Food Forum held on 15 May.

The Forum was part of the Korea Food Show 2013, hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Dame Shipley’s speech focussed on trends in the food industry and highlighted opportunities in that industry following the rise in the size of middle classes worldwide, the expansion of free trade networks, and development of e-markets.  Following the speech, Dame Shipley also addressed the 2013 Kiwi Chamber Business Forum.

Accompanied by Trade Commissioner Ryan Freer, on 14 May Dame Shipley visited the New Zealand pavilion at the Seoul Food Show and talked with representatives of the participating New Zealand food companies.

The visit to Korea by Dame Shipley took place at the invitation of the Korea Food Industry Association.
