Healthy New Zealand food and beverages showcased at Seoul Food and Hotel, 8-11 May
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Seoul showcased fresh, healthy food and beverages from New Zealand’s clean environment under the trade show’s theme of “Smart Food, Delicious Life” at the New Zealand pavilion at Seoul Food and Hotel, the largest food and beverage trade show in Korea, from 8-11 May, building on successes from last two years’ participation.
At the New Zealand pavillion, ten New Zealand companies exhibited beef, seafood, dairy, sauce, honey, drink and other products. A kitchen and a tasting stand were set up for visitors within the pavilion, with renowned New Zealand chef Darren Wright, a winner at the New Zealand Culinary Fare in Auckland in 2011, demonstrating and showcasing various menu items using the products of the exhibiting companies. The tasting station was very popular with many visitors who enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the New Zealand chef and suppliers and tasted delicious food and beverages.
Graeme Solloway, Trade Commissioner, said, “This was the third time New Zealand joined Seoul Food exhibition. Originally, ‘smart food’ meant food good for the brain, but it evolved to referring to the smart consumption of healthy foods. As a result, New Zealand was a perfect match with this year’s theme of ‘Smart Food, Delicious Life.’ Feedback from the exhibitors at our pavilion has been very positive, with the opportunity to raise the profile of their products to key industry contacts and find potential new customers in Seoul. The assistance and support from NZTE, including an extensive range of business matching with key buyers, has enabled them to develop many new business opportunities for follow up.”
On the second day of the exhibition, NZTE organised a networking reception with Ambassador Patrick Rata for the exhibitors and around 150 Korean food industry VIPs, featuring an array of dishes using New Zealand ingredients. Briefing sessions on doing business in Korea were also provided for exhibitors, with speakers from Edelman Korea and Ongo Food Communications.
