New Zealand and Korean art people get connected
On the occasion of the visit by three New Zealand curators to Korea, Ambassador Patrick Rata hosted a reception at the New Zealand Residence on 12 September.
Attended by over 30 Korean artists and curators and New Zealand artists as well as the New Zealand curators, the reception provided a great occasion for the art people from both countries to network and explore opportunities for collaboration. The three New Zealand curators, Andrew Clifford (Auckland University’s Centre for Art Research), Vera Mey (AUT Universty’s ST PAUL St Gallery) and Mark Williams (CIRCUIT Artist Film and Video Aotearoa NZ), made short presentations about their institutions and art projects.
For over a week, the three New Zealand curators, together with Jude Chambers from Creative New Zealand and supported by the Asia New Zealand Foundation visited contemporary art spaces and exhibitions in Korea including Gwangju Biennale and Media City Seoul.
