A world-renowned Maori performance group, “Te Arawa Maori Group” from Rotorua in New Zealand will enthrall the public when it performs at the 49th Global Myeongdong Festival at 12:30pm on Tuesday, 23 October (venue: Myeongdong Theatre intersection). The group led by the Deputy Mayor of Rotorua Trevor Maxwell, previously represented New Zealand at the Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II in London in May this year.

Ambassador Patrick Rata met on 15 October with Korea’s Minister for the Environment, Dr Yoo Young-Sook.  Minister Yoo and Ambassador Rata discussed the strong relationship between New Zealand and Korea on environmental issues, including dialogue on the development and implementation of Emissions Trading Schemes in both countries.  They also discussed the upcoming UNFCCC Pre-Conference of Parties meeting in Seoul, where Ministers and high-level delegates from around the world will meet to discuss vital climate change issues.

The Choir and Orchestra of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch, gave a concert at the magnificent Myeong-dong Cathedral in Seoul on Saturday 6 October. Under Musical Director Don Whelan, the concert programme included selections from Britten, Palestrina, Bruckner, Vivaldi, Buxtehude, Mozart, Mews and Archer. Together with New Zealand Ambassador, Patrick Rata, the large audience delighted in the performance of the Choir and Orchestra.
