Development Scholarships for Guatemalans

The New Zealand Development Scholarship (NZDS) - Open Category is a New Zealand Aid Programme scholarship which offers people from selected developing countries the opportunity to undertake development-related studies in New Zealand. The eligible study area for Guatemalans is the promotion of sustainable rural livelihoods and good governance.

Related study areas for sustainable rural livelihoods include, but are not limited to: agricultural sciences, agricultural economics/agricultural trade (international and domestic), animal husbandry, applied sciences or technology related to rural development, community development, distance education and training delivery, ecotourism, environmental health, environmental science/environmental studies, environmental management or natural resource management, forestry, marine science/aquaculture, veterinary science related to rural development, small business development, sanitation and waste management.

Related study areas for good governance include, but are not limited to: development studies, economics, finance/accounting, gender-related studies, human resource management or development, information management (libraries, archives and records, MIS), international law, comparative law, political science, public policy, public sector finance, public administration/government, project management, social research/demography, social policy, indigenous studies, statistics/monitoring and evaluation.

New Zealand Development Scholarships are offered for full-time, tertiary level study at participating New Zealand education institutions. The NZDS funds tuition and enrolment fees, an establishment allowance, a basic stipend, approved scholarship-related travel, some course-related costs, and medical and travel insurance.
