New Zealand sourced-electric bikes for University of New Caledonia

Consul General Linda Te Puni tries out a bike at the official launch of Project Velokai

Students at the university of New Caledonia campus now have electric bikes at their disposal for weekend transport.

Consul General Linda Te Puni tries out a bike at the official launch of the initiative – Project Velokai – on 8 March. The bikes have been supplied by Nelson-based Electric Bike Hub, the sole New Zealand distributor of the eZee ebike. The project is a partnership between

the Greater Noumea Inter-communal Association, the university, the Southern Province, the New Caledonian Government and the City Council.  Electric bikes are increasingly popular, and one of the best known New Zealand advocates for this mode of transport is Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown who can be seen around the capital on her ebike.
