Photographic Exhibition: New Zealand and New Caledonia’s shared history during the First World War

Balclutha War momument

•                      Presented by New Caledonian historic society, In Memoriam, in conjunction with the South Otago Museum, and in partnership with the New Zealand Consulate in Noumea and the French Armed Forces in New Caledonia
•                      Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October, from 9am to 4pm, in the main hall of the Gally-Passebosc's Barracks, in Noumea, New Caledonia
•                      Saturday 15 October at 10am: Talk presented by Stéphane Pannoux, history lecturer at the University of New Caledonia, and Gary Ross, curator of the South Otago Museum
The photo exhibition involves a comparison between two war memorials – the Balclutha War Memorial in South Otago, and the New Caledonia and New Hebrides War Monument in Noumea. A series of photos of New Zealand and New Caledonian soldiers from World War One will also be on display.
 

The exhibition will be displayed in Balclutha in 2012.
