New Zealand poetry celebrated at Lomonosov Moscow State University

Lomonosov Moscow State University

On 24 April, students of the Higher School of Translation and Interpretation of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) had an opportunity to learn more about New Zealand poetry.

Associate Professor Evgeny Pavlov of the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, a recognised expert on New Zealand poetry, gave an overview seminar to a group of interested students.

Unknown ObjectCooperation between the Lomonosov Moscow State University and the University of Canterbury (UC) started a few years ago when academic staff of the universities worked together on compiling and translating into Russian a book of poems written by New Zealand authors.

The partnership between MSU and UC is a fine example of successful educational and academic links between Russia and New Zealand. 11 students from both countries have already become part of the existing programme for students’ exchange, and studied in Russia or New Zealand. The two universities are currently exploring the possibility of an exchange programme for professors as well.
