Getting married in Vanuatu
To marry in Vanuatu, you must comply with local laws and regulations. The local Municipality or Town Hall can advise you as to what documentation is required.
Passports
Entitlement and validity
New Zealand passports are issued to holders of New Zealand citizenship. Passports for adult New Zealanders are valid for five years from the date of issue. Passports for children under the age of 16 are valid for five years from the date of issue. Once a passport has expired, an application should be made for a new one.
Money transfer
If a New Zealander is short of funds, they can have money transferred to them in a number of ways.
Assistance to British Nationals
The New Zealand High Commission also provides consular assistance to British Nationals similar to what is provided for New Zealanders. If a New Zealander is arrested in Vanuatu the New Zealand High Commission in Port Vila can provide some assistance (contact details below), but there are limitations to do what we can do.
