Two New Zealand police officers visited the Philippines during June and July and contributed to the PNP’s model police station project in Camarines Sur and Dinagat Island.


The chair of New Zealand Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee emphasised the growing links between New Zealand and the Philippines in an address at Manila’s De La Salle University today.


New Zealand has come out on top of the ‘global peace index’ for the second year running.


The Philippines New Zealand Business Council (PNZBC) devoted its May members’ forum to discussing the new free trade agreement that links the two countries. 



Air New Zealand has scooped prizes in two recent international airline awards, and has also been voted the best airline in the world by British consumers.  Filipinos can enjoy the airline’s legendary service on daily flights to both New Zealand and London from Hong Kong, with convenient connections from Philippine cities.


The World Economic Forum’s “Global Enabling Trade Report 2010” has New Zealand ranked as the economy with the sixth-best conditions for trade, up from eleventh in the 2009 report. 


Lowered tariffs, increased levels of certainty about the business environment, special arrangements for Filipino workers and agreements on labour and environmental cooperation.  All of these will feature in two presentations on the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) in Manila during the week of May 24.


New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Andrew Matheson today expressed admiration for the smooth and relatively peaceful elections that were held on Monday 10 May.


The New Zealand and Australian ambassadors recently spread the word about the new ASEAN Australia New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA), to business groups in the Visayas and Mindanao.


Hundreds of New Zealanders, Australians, Filipinos and people of other nations gathered in Manila to commemorate ANZAC Day.
