New Zealand Embassy Warsaw, Poland

Anzac Day wreath laying ceremony

The New Zealand and Australian Embassies will host an official wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Pl. Pilsudskiego in Warsaw on Thursday, 25th April to mark the 98th anniversary of Anzac Day.

Anzac Day derives its name from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), who fought valiantly in the battle of Gallipolli, which was one of the major conflicts of World War One. From that day, Anzac Day is the occasion on which the communities of New Zealand and Australia join in commemoration of all their war dead.

The ceremony will start at 11:45 am and will conclude around 12:20 pm. It is an open, public event so if you would like to attend, you are invited to do so.
