New Zealand Embassy Warsaw, Poland

Geurgana Guermanoff

Education New Zealand’s Europe Director, Guergana Guermanoff visited Poland on 27-28 March to assess the potential and needs of the Polish education market and interest in New Zealand education services.

The meetings engaged Ministry officials and representatives of top Warsaw tertiary education institutions, and showed that Polish students are very mobile and have an appetite for experiences outside the EU, including in New Zealand.

Currently 100 young Polish people go to New Zealand every year under the Working Holiday Scheme (WHS), and many return to Poland interested in further study opportunities in New Zealand. There are several exchange agreements between Polish and New Zealand universities, including with the Warsaw School of Economics, Kozminski University and The Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

Polish PhD students and academics may also take advantage of the European mobility programmes and other funding opportunities to study in New Zealand.
