Head of Mission’s visit to Auschwitz – Birkenau Museum

dr Piotr Cywinski and Nik Kiddle

In February 2012 Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the New Zealand Embassy in Poland, Mr Nik Kiddle visited the Auschwitz – Birkenau Museum located outside of Oswiecim town, near Krakow. Mr Kiddle met with museum director Dr Piotr Cywinski who also represents the Auschwitz – Birkenau Foundation.

Dr. Cywinski took the opportunity to express his gratitude to New Zealand for last years’ donation to the Foundation’s perpetual fund established to enable the preservation of the camp grounds and museum. After the meeting, Mr Kiddle was shown around the museum and learned many interesting facts about the concentration camp Auschwitz – Birkenau, run by Nazis in occupied Poland during WW II in which millions of Jews as well as Poles, Gypsies and Russians were interned and lost their lives. At the end of his visit, the Head of the New Zealand Mission signed a visitor’s book.
