Maori accent at the Warsaw Festival

Moana and The Tribe in Warsaw

The "Warsaw Cross Culture Festival", which took place between 25-29 September at the Parade Square in Warsaw, was celebrating its 9th anniversary. For this year's festival, the organisers chose the covering theme "Islands of the World" and hosted 170 artists from 54 countries.

Among those invited was New Zealand’s "Moana & The Tribe". The singer Moana Maniapoto, with her group of dancers and musicians, treated the audience to an incredible blend of the traditional sounds of Māori with soul, reggae and even classical music. Most of the songs that were sung during the festival were performed in the Māori language. A big attraction for the audience (which packed the venue to over-flowing) was the opportunity to see Moana’s two Haka masters perform a Haka in traditional warrior costume.
