Minister McCully in Poland

Hon Murray McCully and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski meet in Warsaw

New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Murray McCully, visited Poland on 19-20 March.

During the visit, he met with the Speaker of the Senate, Bogdan Borusewicz, had a working lunch with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and economic Minister, Janusz Piechociński. He also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw.
The visit offered “an excellent opportunity to get a regional perspective on events in Ukraine, discuss a free trade agreement with the EU and further New Zealand’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.” Other issues discussed included trade, scientific cooperation, education and tourism.
Minister McCully was undertaking a wider European tour which included the United Kingdom, Andorra, Spain, Poland and Germany.
