New Zealand in Plock

Maori village model

Ambassador Wendy Hinton visited the City of Płock on 29 August. She met with the Mayor of Płock,  Mr Andrzej Nowakowski, and took part in a “New Zealand Family Picnic”  event to mark the culmination of the programme of New Zealand studies undertaken by city children .

At the initiative of the Director of the City Library, Mrs Joanna Banasiak, each year a particular country is chosen for school children to focus their studies on. This year New Zealand took centre stage, following, most recently, Israel and India. The children made, and gifted to the Ambassador, an impressive Māori village, complete with silver tree ferns, kiwis, kea and a whale (in the ocean!). This is now on display in the Embassy.
