New Zealand/Polish Trio Makes Music in Warsaw

H.E. Wendy Hinton and the artists

To mark the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Poland,  the New Zealand Ambassador Wendy Hinton hosted a concert featuring music and musicians from both countries on 15  September at the Polish Music Publishing House in Warsaw.

The concert featured distinguished New Zealand violist Professor Donald Maurice. He was accompanied by Polish pianist Urszula Szyrynska and joined by Polish violist, Marcin Murawski.
The trio played a programme assembled by Professor Maurice which included works by Antonin Wranitzky, Anthony Ritchie, Johann Hummel, Douglas Lilburn and Henryk Wieniawski.
The performance of Lilburn’s “Salutes to Seven Poets” echoed the recording of this work made by Professor Maurice in 1989, with the same readings from seven New Zealand poets also featuring at the Warsaw concert.
