New Zealand Embassy Warsaw, Poland


The New Zealand Embassy in Warsaw and Education New Zealand have facilitated the visit of distinguished Jagiellonian University professors to New Zealand taking place this week.


New Zealand tour operator, Greenlite Travel, will be participating in this year’s travel show LATO 2014 (4-6 April) in Warsaw, at Fair and Congress Centre MT Polska, 56C Marsa street.


New Zealand Ambassador, Wendy Hinton, visited Wrocław on 25-26 March and met with the Voivode (Governor) of the Dolny Slask region, Mr Tomasz Smolarz and the vice President of the city, Mrs Anna Szarycz.


On 25 April 1915 the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) went ashore on the Gallipoli peninsula marking the first day of a campaign that would cost many thousands of them their lives.


The 70th anniversary of the largest prisoner of war escape ever attempted was commemorated on Monday, 24 March in Zagan, western Poland, in a service hosted by the British Government.


New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Murray McCully, visited Poland on 19-20 March.


An online toolkit is now available for New Zealand exporters to help tell the New Zealand story overseas.


During the visit of New Zealand Minister of Culture and Heritage, Hon Christopher Finlayson, to Poland in January 2013, the Minister took part in the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Final and donated a Hobbit poster signed by Peter Jackson. This has now been sold for 6100 PLN (2400 NZD).


Prominent Polish MP Robert Biedron’s Christmas break this year included a visit to New Zealand.


Thanks to the efforts of the Institute of Urban Culture in Gdansk, the fifth edition of the Festival - "Narratives - installations and interventions in public space" took place on 15 - 17 November 2013.
