New Zealand Embassy Warsaw, Poland


The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, H.E Mr Radosław Sikorski, visited New Zealand from 3 to 5  May, 2013. During the visit he had a series of high level meetings, including with the Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae. and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Murray McCully.


H.E. Wendy Hinton has been accredited as the new Ambassador of New Zealand to the Republic of Poland. On June 19 Ambassador Wendy Hinton presented her credentials to the President of Poland Mr Bronisław Komorowski. Wendy Hinton came to Poland to replace the previous Ambassador Penelope Ridings After meeting with the President, the Ambassador went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to lay a wreath in honour of the Polish defenders of their homeland. 


The presentation of awards for the "Antipodes known and unknown" contest took place at the Polonia Home in Krakow on 11 April.

Over 500 students of high schools from the Malopolskie Voievodship participated in this year’s contest, organised by the Australia, New Zealand and Oceania Research Association (ANZORA).

The leading theme of this year’s (fourth) edition was Poles in the Pacific.


A reading of New Zealand’s Anthology of Modern Plays “Two Oceans” was held in Krakow’s Bagatela Theater at Sarego Street on 27 March. The event was directed by Ms Katarzyna Deszcz.


Together with the NZTE Hamburg and New Zealand Winegrowers, the Embassy co-organised a wine tasting and promotion in one of Warsaw's top hotel Marriott on 21 March. The event attracted more than 100 wine industry representatives to taste wines from nine New Zealand wineries.


Every year on 25 April the Embassies of New Zealand and Australia organise a ceremony at the Tomb of The Unknown Solider in memory of those who died or suffered from the efforts of war.


The Scientific Society of Foreign Affairs by the Jean Monnet European Integration Faculty at the Warsaw School of Economics visited the New Zealand Embassy on 18 April as part of this year's Diplomatic Action project.


Education New Zealand’s Europe Director, Guergana Guermanoff visited Poland on 27-28 March to assess the potential and needs of the Polish education market and interest in New Zealand education services.


The XVIII Fair of Tourism and Recreation – Lato 2013 took place in Warsaw on 19-21 April. National and international tourism companies took this opportunity to present their portfolios, including Tourist Agency Green Lite Travel.
Ms Wendy Hinton New Zealand Ambassador-Designate to Poland visited the Green Lite Travel stand on 19 April and was welcomed at the fair by President of MTtargi Poland Ms Urszula Potęga, along with people engaged in promoting New Zealand in Poland.


On third of May 2013, Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully met his counterpart from Poland, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Wellington.
