New Zealand Embassy Warsaw, Poland


Julian Ludbrook, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the New Zealand Embassy was invited by the Students’ Association of Foreign Relations to give a presentation on New Zealand’s economy, with particular emphasis on the process of expanding its international cooperation through trade liberalization and free trade agreements.


The New Zealand Embassy in Warsaw no longer issues Emergency Travel Documents.


The University of Gdansk, Poland, hosted the 18th conference of the New Zealand Studies Association from 6-8 July 2012. Entitled New Zealand and Europe: Borders, Nations, Identities, the conference attracted nearly thirty academics from universities in New Zealand, Poland, Australia, the UK and others.


On 18 May in Warsaw the embassy participated in a number of ceremonies (at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, at the Monte Cassino Monument and at the Polish Army Museum).


New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Commissioner Marcus Scoliege, paid a short visit to Warsaw in early May to have a deep look into the Polish market potential and possibilities it offers for New Zealand businesses.


On 25 April 1915 the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) went ashore at the Gallipoli peninsula marking the first day of a campaign that would cost many thousands of them their lives.


On 22nd March 2012 the Consulate of the Republic of France in Krakow (Southern Poland) hosted a presentation of awards to participants of the 3rd edition of the “Antipodes known and unknown” competition for secondary school students from the Malopolskie region. 


On 18 February 2012, the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski received representatives of the Diplomatic Corps at the presidential palace.


On 12 December 2011 the Voivodeship Library of Szczecin was host to the promotion of a book by Polish author dr Leszek Wątróbski titled “Polish settlement in New Zealand 1873-1983”.


In February 2012 Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the New Zealand Embassy in Poland, Mr Nik Kiddle visited the Auschwitz – Birkenau Museum located outside of Oswiecim town, near Krakow. Mr Kiddle met with museum director Dr Piotr Cywinski who also represents the Auschwitz – Birkenau Foundation.
