Confirmation of a New Zealand Drivers Licence

Authorities of African countries or companies will often require a confirmation that your New Zealand Drivers Licence is valid.

If you need to obtain a letter of confirmation, please provide the following information to this office:

• A certified copy of your passport.
• A certified copy of both sides of your NZ driver licence (please note that your NZ driver licence still needs to be valid).
• An application fee of ZAR 320.00

Please note: If you are a permanent resident or a citizen of the Republic of South Africa and a holder of a valid New Zealand Drivers licence you are currently able to convert your New Zealand licence to a South African licence. To convert your licence you will need to obtain a confirmation letter and apply for the conversion at your local licensing centre.

Currently a conversion is not possible if you are a New Zealander and are in South Africa on a visitor, study or work permit.
