English Language Training for African Officials (ELTO Africa)

ELTO participants 2013

The inaugural English Language Training for African Officials (ELTO Africa), has been underway for two weeks now, with participants settling in well.

The courses are offered in response to expressions of interest from a number of partner countries. ELTO Africa provides an opportunity for Foreign Ministry officials from a range of African countries to undertake an intensive English language course in New Zealand.

The objective is to enhance the English language skills of participating officials to enable them to represent their countries effectively in international fora where English is the medium of communication, and to strengthen ties with New Zealand and between participating countries. A powhiri was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), to welcome the group.
