Former New Zealand Prime Minister presents rugby balls and jerseys to Namibian Rugby Union officials
Former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Dame Jenny Shipley, presented rugby equipment to the Namibian Rugby Union during a visit to Namibia in July 2010. The equipment was donated by Silverdale Rugby Club in North Auckland, and the NZRFU, as a goodwill gesture. The Namibian national rugby team attended the presentation.
Mrs Shipley has established a small NGO, the Namibian Education Trust, which supports the Ehomba School in northern Namibia and, along with family and several friends, she has been a regular visitor to Namibia over the past 4 years.
The Namibian rugby team is one of only two African teams to qualify for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand in 2011.
