If your credit cards have been stolen, you should cancel them immediately.

The simplest way to obtain funds from New Zealand is to make a collect call to family or friends who can send money electronically to you. Dial 900 99 00 64 for a New Zealand Telecom operator who will place a collect call for you.

If you are in Spain, dial:

  • 900 633 633 for Western Union Spain
  • 901 201 010 for Moneygram Spain

If you are in New Zealand, dial:

  • 0800 80 8040 for Western Union NZ
  • 0800 44 4630 for Moneygram NZ

These companies can transfer money from one country to another within approximately an hour. Most Spanish branches of these companies are open until midnight and on weekends. You will need photo ID to withdraw cash. If you have had your photo ID stolen, contact the Embassy.

Transfers to Spanish banks are not recommended as it may take over a week to clear funds sent from outside of Spain.

If you are having difficulties making yourself understood, hotel staff can usually assist.
