New Zealand's Ambassador climbs Sweden's highest mountain

The New Zealand flag fluttered proudly at the top of Sweden's highest mountain last weekend.  The Ambassador, Barbara Bridge, and her partner Wolfgang Mitterecker were part of a small group of friends and colleagues who scaled Mt Kebnekaise (2107m) on 17 July.  The expedition on the day took 13 hours, and included rockclimbing with harnesses and helmets and crossing glaciers roped together to prevent disappearance into the many crevasses.  A significant advantage was that since Kebnekaise is in the far north of Sweden in the Arctic Circle

ANZAC Day commemoration services 24/25 April 2010

Against a backdrop of the setting sun a small gathering of New Zealanders, members of the Öckerö community and the Australian Ambassador, gathered to remember the life and sacrifice of New Zealander Sergeant J C Williams whose grave lies in the churchyard of the medieval Öckerö church.  Wreaths were laid by the New Zealand  Ambassador Barbara Bridge, accompanied by Lieutenant Gina Goodrich, RNZN, and the Öckerö community.
