Groundbreaking for Tonga Village Network Upgrade

A Ground breaking ceremony attended by the Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano to mark the commencement of the work for the Tonga Village Network Upgrade project was held at the village of Puke this morning.

All New Zealand Funds Accounted For

All New Zealand funds provided to Tonga's Constitutional and Electoral Reform programme have been accounted for.

An independent audit late last year found no evidence of fraud in the programme but identified poor record-keeping leading to some money being inadvertently used for other Government purposes. The balance of New Zealand funds were returned to New Zealand on 18 January.

‘Eua Island’s Kaufana airport runway and terminal was opened today by the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Samiu Vaipulu and His Excellency Dr Jonathan Austin. The New Zealand Government provided $3.2 million (TOP$4.2 million) of assistance for the upgrade of the ‘Eua airport, which was completed in a record 57 days.
